The Soul of Kirton in Lindsey

Unleashing the Spirit of Kirton in Lindsey with Charcoal and Graphite Artwork!

Spa Hill Conker Tree:

Although I’ve moved throughout England, I felt compelled to return to my hometown of Kirton a few years ago.

Sometimes, our roots call us back home no matter how far we wander. Kirton holds a special place in my heart, and it holds many happy memories.

The architecture, natural surroundings, locals, and unforgettable memories all contribute to a sense of home that can’t be replicated. Living here is unlike anywhere else, with a slower pace, a sense of calmness and relaxation that permeates everything.

Preserving Memories of Kirton through Art.

For every Kirton kid, the Conker Tree represents a cherished childhood memory – the place where they first got their hands on a Conker. As a tribute to this iconic landmark, I am excited to create “Spa Hill Conker Tree” charcoal and graphite drawing. Paying homage to the nostalgic memories it holds for me and the community.

Documenting the Conker tree:

I have been eager to sketch the Conker tree for some time now. It may seem odd, but I believe this over-looked part of Kirton deserves its moment in the spotlight.

I’ve been searching for some information online but haven’t had much luck. Looks like I’ll have to make a trip to the local library to learn more about this tree.

I’ll make sure to share any valuable information I find when I upload the completed art.

Just think, it’s a hefty tree! Do you have any idea how old it might be? Some quick research revealed that it should be measured a meter from the ground to find out it’s age. Any taker?

Uncovering Kirton’s Hidden Gems:

As Kirton undergoes changes and progresses, I feel the need to capture the essence of this place. I have made the decision to create a series of drawings.

Presenting “The Plan, Stan!”

New Illustration venture inspired by Kirton in Lindsey. I’m thrilled to share my latest project with you – a collection of illustrations inspired by the hidden gems of Kirton in Lindsey. As previously mentioned, the Conker tree will be my first focus. I’m curious, what would you suggest I draw next?

As someone who grew up in Kirton during a time when the internet wasn’t around, I had the opportunity to explore every inch of the town without any boundaries.

It was the perfect time to be a kid, building dens and makeshift shelters to protect ourselves from the rain. We used to collect random items to create everything we needed.

Many of the places where we used to climb trees have now been replaced by new housing developments. With so many houses popping up all over the place, I can’t help but feel like I missed out on capturing those moments before they were gone forever.

I’ve made a start, but I’m not sure it’s quite right. I might have to begin again. To Be Continued… Subscribe to keep updated.
