Inspiration


My inspiration for “Sovereign of the Autumn” stems from the mesmerizing beauty and inherent paradox of the autumn season—where life and decay coexist in a harmonious dance. The winged tiger symbolizes this duality, blending the power and majesty of the tiger with the ethereal grace and freedom of flight. In many cultures, tigers are seen as symbols of strength and bravery, while wings often represent liberation and transcendence.

This piece seeks to capture the essence of these symbols, encouraging viewers to embrace transformation and the unknown.

Concept & Meaning

This artwork revolve around the journey of self-discovery and personal evolution. Just as autumn is a time of change and preparation for the future, this piece invites viewers to consider their own metamorphosis, urging them to find beauty and strength in the process of change. The winged tiger serves as a metaphor for overcoming fears and challenges, embodying the courage needed to venture into new territories of both thought and action.

Technique & Process

The monochrome palette intensifies the dramatic effect, allowing the interplay of light and dark to enhance the tiger’s dynamic presence.

Charcoal was my medium of choice because of its versatility and ability to capture intricate textures, from the softness of fur to the delicate structure of feathers. This choice also emphasizes the stark contrasts between light and dark, mirroring the theme of duality and transformation.

Artist’s Reflection

This piece represents a personal exploration of balance and harmony within opposition. Creating it was a journey in itself, pushing the boundaries of my own creativity and technical skills. It taught me the value of embracing uncertainty and finding strength in vulnerability.

I hope that viewers are inspired to reflect on their own paths, finding courage and inspiration in the dance of contrasts that life offers.
