My Charcoal Odyssey
Capture moments and emotions that is both classic and contemporary.
Even though it might sound like a cliché, I truly believe that I have found my true calling.
My passion has always been to be creative and bring ideas to life. Although I initially considered studying art in college, I chose to pursue a career in hairdressing instead.
Did I make the wrong choice? Who can say for sure? But now, I am on this path, embarking on a new journey with still plenty of time ahead. While the exact path is uncertain, I have a basic plan in place that works for me.
Sharing my journey keeps me motivated, and by vocalizing my dreams, I commit to seeing them through. Even if I face challenges, I am determined in not giving up on my goals and pushing forward.
But still, why? Why do I devote countless hours filling in blank pieces of paper with charcoal smudges and marks?
Empty Page
The possibilities are endless on where to begin and what to create. Many artists find this initial step challenging. I find joy in transforming a blank page from start to finish; it’s pure creation. Filling every inch of the page with intent. A small mark I make will impact the entire image.
Hard work pays off, I wasn’t born able to do this and never had any professional training.
Drawing Improves Drawing
It’s just something I really enjoy doing and have lots of patience for. I believe that dedicating time and energy to sharpen skills and chase passions can pave the way for success. While natural talent and professional training can be beneficial, the sheer love for what I do and the willingness to keep working are what is going make the difference.
Is It My Superpower?
I’ve come across the concept of muscle memory suggesting that the more you draw, the more you improve. However, I approach each drawing as a unique piece. In my art, I focus on creating each piece in its own distinct way rather than trying to mimic a particular style or pattern.
I get so lost in my work that I time-travel without a time machine! When I see the final product, I’m left wondering, “Did I really conjure that up?”
Are You Really Paying Attention?
Creating art urges me to center my attention on life; it motivates me to consistently observe and ponder what could be transformed into a compelling sketch. It serves as a tool for me to both delve into and break away from the mundane rhythms of everyday life.
I perceive art in every corner. The interplay of light, shadows and atmospheres ignites my passion, I itch to capture it all on paper. Viewing a finished drawing that I worked hard on fills me with a wonderful feeling of accomplishment.
To Sell or Not to Sell
My aim is not to achieve the fame of Banksy or Andy Warhol. Instead, I dream of owning a shop/studio where I can create and exhibit my art, personally managing sales to establish a connection with customers.
Success, to me, involves finding fulfillment and joy in pursuing my passion and inspiring creativity. This vision includes managing my online store and having a dedicated studio workspace. Many artists dream of creating a space where art comes to life. By establishing a shop/studio, I am creating a space where my creativity can thrive and be shared with others.
So Why Do I Do What I do?
- It brings me joy.
- I find it relaxing.
- I can spend hours sketching, even when progress seems slow.
- Achieving a sense of accomplishment is rewarding.
- I enjoy surprising both others and myself with my drawing abilities.
- It feels like I’m heading towards fulfilling my purpose.
Drawing has revealed a limitless part of myself. I have honed my skills in drawing from reference photos and capturing still life arrangements through self-teaching. It feels like a journey worth pursuing, don’t you think? The desire to progress towards this goal is constant, and there never seem to be sufficient hours in a day.
The Great Vision.
I aim to shape my own reality, carve out my journey, and establish my presence in this world. I aspire to remind people that life doesn’t always have to be rushed; it already passes by quickly.
Each drawing consumes a great deal of time, but the dedication and effort put into creating something on a simple sheet of paper feel like pure magic to me. Nobody guided me or instructed me on what to do; I simply developed a deep passion for it and pursued it relentlessly.
