“I am captivated by the striking contrast I’ve achieved between the charcoal and graphite in this drawing. This technique adds depth and dimension to the squirrel’s features. The intricate details and realistic depiction of the fur truly lend a lifelike quality to the artwork.” Since that moment, I have been dedicated to working with charcoal.

Tools Of Choice

To create this drawing, I used a variety of charcoal and graphite pencils as well as rubbers and smudging stumps.
I started with a lightly sketched basic outlines using a harder charcoal pencil.

Squirrel’s are an interesting topic to explore using charcoal and graphite. The furry texture of a squirrel’s coat can be portrayed beautifully. Charcoal’s expressive lines and smudging techniques make this possible. The versatile nature of charcoal allowed me to capture the delicate features of squirrels. The contrast between the charcoal and the white paper creates a dramatic effect, enhancing the overall impact of the drawing.
