Frequently Asked Questions
Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about my commissions, from pricing and timelines to reference images and delivery. If your question isn’t answered here, please do get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.
How do I request a commission?
Answer
To request a commission, simply complete my enquiry form with as much detail as possible, including the subject, size, reference images, and any specific requirements. Once I’ve reviewed your request, I’ll get back to you with a quote and estimated timeline.
How are commissions priced?
Answer
My commission prices are based on the subject, artwork size, level of detail, and whether a detailed background is included. I also take into account any special requirements, such as a specific deadline, framing, or postage.
What sizes do you offer?
Answer
I offer commissions in A5, A4, and A3. Each size is priced according to the subject matter and the level of detail required.
How long will my commission take?
Answer
Turnaround times vary depending on the size and complexity of the piece. Smaller commissions may take a few weeks, while larger or more detailed works may take longer. I’ll always provide an estimated timeline with your quote.
What reference images do you need?
Answer
Clear, well-lit reference images are best, as they help me capture detail and likeness accurately. If you’re unsure whether your images are suitable, I’m happy to take a look before confirming the commission.
Can you work from multiple reference images?
Answer
Yes — I can work from multiple reference images if needed. This can be especially helpful when creating a portrait, pet portrait, home drawing, or memorial piece where more than one photograph provides useful detail.
Do you do memorial commissions from older photographs?
Answer
Yes — I do memorial commissions from older photographs. If the image quality is limited, I’ll do my best to work from the available details and create a thoughtful, respectful piece.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Answer
Yes — a deposit may be required to secure your commission. I’ll confirm this when I send your quote and timeline.
Can I request changes once you’ve started?
Answer
Because each piece is created by hand, I ask clients to provide as much detail as possible at the start. If I need to confirm anything important during the process, I’ll be in touch, but major changes once work has begun may not always be possible.
Do you offer framing?
Answer
Framing may be available depending on the commission. If you would like framing included, please mention this when enquiring so I can factor it into your quote.
Do you post commissions?
Answer
Yes — commissions can be posted once complete. Postage and packaging costs will be confirmed as part of your quote.
Can I request a commission for a specific date?
Answer
If you need your commission by a particular date, please include this in your enquiry. I’ll let you know whether I can accommodate your timeframe.
What happens once my commission is finished?
Answer
Once the artwork is complete, I’ll contact you to arrange the next step, whether that is collection, delivery, or postage.
