Another Lockdown creation.

“Nutts” A drawing that was created using Charcoal & Graphite, taking around 25 hours to complete.

Nutts is a beautiful charcoal and graphite drawing. It showcases the talent and creativity that can emerge during the 2020 lockdown periods.
This artwork is not only a stunning representation of a cute and furry animal, but also a testament to the power of art to bring joy and inspiration during challenging times. The use of charcoal and graphite adds depth and texture to the drawing, bringing the squirrel to life on paper.

“I am captivated by the striking contrast I’ve achieved between the charcoal and graphite in this drawing. This technique adds depth and dimension to the squirrel’s features. The intricate details and realistic depiction of the fur truly lend a lifelike quality to the artwork.”

This artwork brings a hint of nature and a sense of whimsy to any living space, fostering a tranquil and peaceful ambiance. I ensure that all my pieces are professionally scanned, making them available for purchase in gallery-quality prints.

While natural talent and professional training can be beneficial, the sheer love for what I do and the willingness to keep working are what makes the difference for me.

Tools Of Choice

To create this drawing, I used a variety of charcoal and graphite pencils as well as rubbers and smudging stumps.
I started with a lightly sketched basic outlines using a harder charcoal pencil.

Squirrel’s are an interesting subject to explore using charcoal and graphite. The furry texture of a squirrel’s coat can be beautifully portrayed through the expressive lines and smudging techniques that charcoal offers. The versatile nature of charcoal allowed me to capture the delicate features of squirrels. The contrast between the charcoal and the white paper creates a dramatic effect, enhancing the overall impact of the drawing.
