Bespoke Acquisitions & Private Commissions

Bespoke fine art commissions executed by Cutsforth Artistry serve as permanent, material extensions of architectural landmarks, regional landscapes, and familial heritage. From large-scale civil structures to hyper-detailed anatomical memorial studies, traditional monochrome charcoal functions as an elite spatial anchor, utilizing light-absorbing matte carbon to introduce a commanding, silent weight into contemporary residential and institutional spaces.

To protect the intensive labor required for each master drawing and preserve the long-term asset value of our collections, the studio operates on an absolute scarcity model. Private commissions are accepted on a strictly limited, seasonal basis throughout the year. Admission to the drafting queue is granted solely though a formal vetting and application framework.

I. The Architectural and Aesthetic Criteria

Reference Asset Requirements

To construct a light-absorbing shadow abyss at the easel, your reference photographs must meet the studio’s absolute technical baseline:

  • Dynamic Lighting: Subjects must feature distinct directional light and shadow (avoid flat, direct camera flashes or midday sun).
  • Micro-Detail Resolution: Zooming in on the file must reveal clear structural landmarks (individual fur tracts, sharp iris details, or crisp brickwork joints).
  • Zero Modification: No digital smoothing filters, heavy HDR processing, or artistic screenshots. Raw, high-resolution original files only.

The studio explicitly rejects standard commercial graphic requests. Projects are selected based entirely on structural and stylistic alignment with the studio’s established body of work:

  • The Monochrome Mandate: All works are executed using traditional, high-density compressed mineral carbon and natural willow charcoal dust. Requests to introduce digital elements, liquid colour accents, or flat graphite reflective textures are sysematically denied.
  • Subject Feasibility: The subject matter-whether a grand historic landmark, an extensive arable landscape, or an intense wildlife study-must possess the deep geometric mass required to build a light-absorbing shadow abyss at the easel.

Familial Heritage & Memorial Portraiture:

The studio accepts select commissions for archival pet and familial memorial portraits. These pieces are treated with the exact same unyielding technical discipline as the architectural landmark studies.

Rather than executing soft, flat commercial sketches, the studio focuses on Anatomical Structural Isolation-using deep, light-absorbing matte carbon to map muscle definition, bone structure and coat texturing. These works function as heavy visual monuments of silent depth, engineered to preserve a legacy across generations on 310gsm museum-grade cotton rag paper.

II. Contractual Allocation of Creative Control

Discerning collectors understand that they are investing in the unique eye, style, and unyielding hand of the creator. Therefore, the contractual boundaries governing creative execution are absolute:

  1. Geometric Foundation Fixation: Prior to the application of raw charcoal dust, a precise structural outline is mapped to secure proportional accuracy and structural alignment. This layout is reviewed with the collector. Once approved, the architectural composition is locked permanently.
  2. The Finality of Shade: Once value saturation begins, the physical layering of carbon into the archival paper fibers cannot be undone. The studio permits a maximum of two structured technical updates during the drafting phase. The ultimate tonal balance, contrast dynamics, and textureing remain entirely at the absolute discretion of the artist’s professional judgment.
  3. Retention of Copyright: Upon final financial settlement, the collector secures sole physical ownership of the piece of paper. However, Cutsforth Artistry remains permanent, absolute copyright and all digital or physical reproduction rights for the master file registry. The original grawing may not be independently duplicated, scanned, or used for commercial utility without a separate licensing deed.

III. The Acquisition Framework (Pricing & Scale)

The studio operates on a rigid, objective pricing formula based entirely on structural complexity, tonal density, and the intensive hours of labor required at the easel. Sizing and rates remain completely non-negotiable across all tiers to protect the asset integrity of works already held by collectors.

Current Available Substrate:

  • A5 Micro-Monograph Scale: Reserved for high-density, microscopic wildlife and familial heritage isolation studies. These intense pieces require specialized, needle-tapered carbon tools to execute micro-textures on a concentrated plane.
  • A4 Miniature Scale: Engineered for focused anatomical studies, heritage details, and small-scale landscape geometry requiring hours of highly concentrated precision drafting.
  • A3 Structural Scale: Designed for complex civic landmarks, extensive agricultural landscapes, and grand architectural perspectives build to command a prominent spatial wall.

All bespoke works are executed on premium, heavyweight 310gsm 100% acid-free cotton rag paper using lightfast, mineral-based archival pigments.

Available Substrate Matrix & Valuation:

Pricing is calculated using a strict architectural formula combining paper surface area and the intensive hours of localized value saturation required at the easel.

  • A5 Micro-Monograph Scale | From £150
Reserved for high-density, microscopic studies. Due to the painstaking precision required to map fine details using needle-tapered carbon tools, a singular A5 composition demands up to 20 hours of focused laboratory execution at the easel.
  • A4 Miniature Scale | From £250
Engineered for complex mid-scale studies. Expanding the surface area requires scaling your value mapping; a standard A4 study commands between 25 and 35 hours of meticulous tonal isolation and subtractive texture carving to balance light trap mechanics.
  • A3 Structural Scale | From £350
Designed for monumental architectural perspectives, civic landmarks, and extensive regional landscapes build to command a prominent spatial wall. controlling loose carbon and tracking sharp linear perspective across this expansive plane demands an uncompromising commitment of 40 to 60+ hours of rigorous drafting, utilizing technical rulers and an exceptionally steady hand.

Rates specify the baseline acquisition cost for unmounted original drawings on 310gsm archival cotton rag. Complex structural layouts or dense, multi-subject composition. are audited submission. To preserve complete fairness across our collector registry, discounts and haggling are systematically rejected.
