Returns & Exchange Policy

At Cutsforth Artistry, every original charcoal work and Giclée print is produced, inspected, and packaged to museum-grade standards. Because of the delicate, high-density nature of hand-applied loose carbon and primium fine art substrates, the following structured parameters govern all studio acquisitions.

1. Private Commissions & Custom Artwork

  • The Policy: Absolute Finality.
  • The Parameter: Because private commissions undergo a strict multi-stage vetting process, a tailored geometric layout approval, and are custom-built to your specific architectural and subject parameters, all deposits and final payments for commission contracts are strictly non-refundable.
  • The Commitment: Once the original work is locked into the drafting queue and finalized at the easel, the acquisition cannot be canceled, returnes, or exchanged.

2. Original Gallery Artwork & Archival Giclée Prints

Under UK consumer guidelines, non-customized inventory purchased directly via the digital studio gallery qualifies for a standard cancellation window:

  • The Return Window: You have 14 days from the exact date of delivery to request a return or exchange.
  • The Mounted Boarder Exception: If you request to have your artwork custom-mounted in a fine art boarder by the studio’s printer, this transforms the order into a custom-tailored commission asset. Because the mountboard is cut precisely to the structural dimensions of that specific layout, mounted pieces are strictly non-refundable and exempt from standard return windows.
  • Condition Mandate (Unmounted Items): Standard unmounted items must be completely unused, pristine, and structurally unaltered. They must remain in their original museum-grade packaging (including protective glassine paper coverings for loose charcoal or original rolling tubes for prints).
  • Exclusion: Any item returned with evidence or surface smudging, human oil contact, moisture degradation, or bent corners will systematically denied a refund and returned to the collector at their expense.

3. Damages in Transit & Curatorial Insurance

Every package leaving the studio is heavily reinforced and fully insured. In the rare event that an archival piece sustains structural damage during transit:

  • Immediate Protocol: You must notify the studio via email Leane@CutsforthArtistry.co.uk within 24 hours of the carrier delivery scan.
  • Required Evidence: Your email must include crisp, high-resolution photographs of the exterior packaging damage, the shipping label, and the specific structural impact on the artwork substrate itself.
  • Resolution: Upon verification of carrier transit failure, I will coordinate a priority restoration layout or issue a total replacement for archival Giclée prints at zero additional expense to you.

4. Return Logistics & Costs

  • Responsibility: The collector is fully responsible for organizing and funding the return transit logistics.
  • Handling Warnings: Because raw charcoal is highly susceptible to atmospheric humidity and human oil transfer, unmounted works must never be touched directly on the carbon surface. Returns that arrive back at the easel with surface smudges, bent corners, or moisture degradation caused by improper repackaging will be denied a refund.
  • Protection Requirement: You must utilize a tracked, fully insured delivery service matching the total retail value of the artwork (e.g., Royal Mail Special Delivery). The studio is not liable for return shipments that are lost or broken by carriers before reaching my registry.
  • Processing: Once the item is received and undergoes a technical quality audit at the easel, your original payment method will be refunded within 5 to 7 business days, minus any original outward shipping fees.
