Art Workshop
I have been approached a few times to speak to students about art. However, feeling like an imposter, I have shied away and turned down these opportunities.
Although I have always been drawing and creating, it wasn’t until recently that I fully dedicated myself to my art. Shifting my mind set I now see these invitations as a chance to learn, document my discoveries, and share my journey with those interested in listening.
Que Será; Será.
This being my first attempt at something like this, surprisingly, I wasn’t too nervous. I had a few ideas prepared to guide me, but I was mostly following the principle of “let’s see what happens.”
It began with me organizing things in the craft room, but I had to relocate to the main room as more learners wanted to participate.
It’s All A Learning Curve.
The tables were arranged, and everyone was ready. Over 20 service users and their supports were in attendance. I was delighted to see so many people participate, although it was a bit challenging talking to everyone as a group then getting around everyone individually, thankfully, with the assistance of the supports, everything ran smoothly.
Cutsforth Art Class
I had some worksheets ready to hand out. These worksheets included images of three renowned artists next to the portraits they created. We discussed the artists briefly and their ages before creating their own portraits.
I also provided a template of heads for everyone to use for drawing their portraits. Following the discussion on the artists, I demonstrated step by step how to utilize the template and where each element should be placed.
I wasn’t really expecting it to be such a hit but everyone joined in and created there own works of art.
Fail To Prepare, Prepare To Fail.
Reflecting on this experience, I am pleased with the outcome and plan to repeat it. This has only emphasized the importance of thorough planning, and I am in the process of creating more workshops to try out then hopefully ill start offer my services as a booking option.
